How is Bioheat® fuel different from heating oil?
Today’s petroleum-based heating oil is already much cleaner than the fuel of the past. Its sulfur content is a fraction of what it used to be (15 parts per million, down from 4,000).
But we blend ultra-low sulfur heating oil with biodiesel, a one-to-one replacement for petroleum that is made using organic and recycled feedstocks, including:
- canola, soybean, palm, and sunflower oils
- used cooking oils
- algae
- animal fats and tallow
Our fuel contains 20 percent biodiesel, also known as B20 of Bioheat® fuel.
